Chattanooga Lookouts fall 6-2 to Birmingham

HOOVER, Ala. — The Birmingham Barons beat the visiting Chattanooga Lookouts 6-2 in Southern League baseball Thursday night.

Michael Earley's three-run home run home run to left field with two out in the fifth inning gave Birmingham a 6-1 lead and chased Chattanooga starting pitcher Chris Reed out of the game.

The Lookouts dropped to 11-16 and are five games under .500 for the first time this season.

The Barons took a 3-0 lead in the third inning on Marcus Semien's RBI single to right that bounced off Yasiel Puig's glove and Dan Black's two-run single to center. Puig homered to left in the sixth inning to make it 6-2.

Game three of the five-game series is tonight at 8:05 EDT. Andres Santiago (2-2, 3.42 ERA) is scheduled to start on the mound for the Lookouts, with Nick McCully (1-1, 5.84) scheduled for the Barons.
