A 24-year-old East Ridge woman was bitten on the mouth by a pit bull Thursday.

An East Ridge Police Department news release said the dog was picked up by East Ridge Animal Control and is up to date on its vaccinations.

Police went to 4305 Lazard St. where a woman, living across the street from dog owners, had been concerned that the pit bull was about to bite an employee of the water company.

The woman put the dog back into a fenced area at the residence of its owners, but while she was walking away and along the fence, the dog jumped up and bit her in the mouth, damaging her lip.

She was taken by ambulance to Erlanger hospital.
