A 44-year-old Palmer, Tenn., man was sentenced to a quarter century in prison Monday by a federal judge for making child pornography.

Jimmy Rollins was arrested in February 2012 by Winchester, Tenn., police who had found evidence Rollins used the Internet to traffic in child pornographic images.

A subsequent investigation revealed that on nine occasions from July 19, 2011, until Nov. 20, 2011, Rollins had "engaged in sexual activity with a known minor," according to a Justice Department release.

The victim was a teenage boy.

Rollins pleaded guilty to a single count of having sex with a minor for "the purpose of producing a visual depiction."

Prosecutor John MacCoon handled the case.

U.S. District Judge Harry S. "Sandy" Mattice sentenced Rollins to the mandatory minimum of 25 years, per the plea agreement.

The maximum prison sentence is 50 years. The remaining eight counts were dismissed with the agreement.

In a previous statement, U.S. Attorney Bill Killian said his office "will aggressively prosecute those who are using interstate commerce to victimize children for profit and sexual gratification."

The investigation was part of Project Safe Childhood, a federal initiative launched in May 2006 by the justice department to fight child sexual exploitation and abuse, according to the release.
