NASHVILLE - Police say a pedestrian who was hit by a tractor-trailer while trying to cross a Nashville interstate is clinging to life at a hospital.

The accident happened Wednesday downtown in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 40 near the Interstate 24 junction and has tied up traffic for hours. Police had to shut down multiple lanes of traffic to investigate.
