Dalrymple heads TVA coal, gas

The Tennessee Valley Authority announced Thursday it has promoted James R. "Bob" Dalrymple as senior vice president of coal and gas operations overseeing more than 150 coal, combined cycle gas, and simple cycle gas units. Dalrymple, who most recently headed TVA's gas operations, also will oversee operations of TVA's coal plants. Coal operations previously were managed at TVA under Dennis Spencer, who was named Thursday to a new position overseeing the phase out of 18 of TVA's coal units to comply with an environmental cleanup order.

BlueCross elects chairwoman

BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee has elected Betty W. DeVinney, of Kingsport, Tenn., as its chairwoman, succeeding chairman Lamar Partridge, of Chattanooga.

DeVinney, a former senior vice president of Eastman Chemical Co. in Kingsport, has been a member of the BlueCross board since 2002, and previously served as vice-chairwoman. She will be succeeded as vice chairman by Herb Hilliard, who served as BlueCross chairman from 2001 to 2006 and was recently appointed to the Tennessee Regulatory Authority by Gov. Bill Haslam.
