Chattanooga Film Society begins POV Film Series

The Chattanooga Film Society will open its Summer POV Film Series on Monday, May 20, with "Only the Young."

The series, which continues monthly through September, features a selection of documentary films from the acclaimed "POV" series on public television.

"Only the Young" is a coming-of-age story about three unconventional Christian teenagers in a small Southern California town. Skateboarders Garrison and Kevin, along with Garrison's on-again, off-again girlfriend, Skye, wrestle with the eternal questions of youth as they approach graduation: friendship, true love and the promise of the future. Yet their lives also are touched by the distress signals of contemporary America: foreclosed homes, abandoned businesses and adults in financial trouble.

Other films in the series are "Neurotypical" on June 17, "Ping Pong" on July 15, "Best Kept Secret" on Aug. 19 and "56 Up" on Sept. 16.

Films will be screened at 6:30 p.m. at the Downtown YMCA, 301 W. Sixth St. Admission is free.
