Mise En Scenesters offers 'Rewind This'

A fun documentary that looks at the rise of video and the video-store culture that flourished in the 1980s and '90s will be screened by the Mise En Scenesters film club at 8:30 p.m. Friday, May 17, at Barking Legs Theater, 1307 Dodds Ave.

"Rewind This" premiered at the South by Southwest Film Festival in March and has been hailed as a must-see film of 2013.

The "massively entertaining" film, says MES founder/programmer Chris Dortch, "will remind cinephiles of the golden age of mom-and-pop video rental shops, the wonder of found footage and the simple joys of being kind enough to rewind."

Admission is $5, and all proceeds go to filmmakers Josh Johnson, Carolee Mitchell and Christopher Palmer.

Beer and snacks will be available.
