Whether you're heading outdoors this summer, going for a run or just needing a pair of comfortable shoes, you may want to visit New Balance of Chattanooga to check out the new 840-style shoes.

Designed in the category of running shoes by New Balance, they are made for both men and women with an extra- deep toe box and a narrow heel. Store owner Hal Kearney said these shoes are one of the most physician recommended styles not only for runners, but everyone in general because of the support they provide and the comfort they offer.

"People just use them because they feel amazing," Kearney said. "They meet all of the Therapeutic Shoe Bill requirements for diabetics as well."

He added that the 840s are considered a neutral running shoe with lots of ground contact for support, which sets them apart from other New Balance tennis shoes. Kearney invites those interested in trying the New Balance 840s to come to his store on Gunbarrel Road for a fitting and proper consultation.

"Every foot is different and every body is different," he said. "What works for your friend may not be the best style or supportive type for you. The best way to ensure the best combination of cushioning and support is to come by and get a scan and let us evaluate your needs. It's best if we do that in person."

Kearney and his wife Angela are both board certified pedorthists. They said they are ready and willing to help customers in any way they can to be sure they find the right shoe and style to give them the best fit and most comfort.

"We leave no stone unturned when it comes to helping a customer and making sure we look at even the minute details of a fitting," said Kearney.

He added that New Balance of Chattanooga does a lot of its business from doctor referrals and that everything the store carries is orthopedically sound.

"Anything doctors diagnose, we can handle as certified pedorthists," Kearney said of his wife and himself, who are at the store almost every day. "We make sure both our shoes and our service are quality." Sizes for ladies range from 6-13 in narrow and extra-wide widths and from7-15 for men with narrow to extra-wide widths.

The price of the 840 shoes is currently $124.99, and they are in stock for men and women at the local store. Kearney said second colors on the 840s are coming in June.
