Joe Brown to head local BB&T bank

Joe Brown, a 14-year banking veteran, has been named BB&T Chattanooga market president. In his role, Brown will supervise the bank's commercial banking team in Chattanooga and be responsible for all local BB&T community and banking activities.

"Joe has proven his ability to help clients succeed and to lead BB&T's Chattanooga-area presence and progress," said Missy Wallen, BB&T Tennessee president. "The Chattanooga area is one of the most economically exciting places in America today, and BB&T's goal is to play an increasingly larger role in this area's progress."

CBL develops outlet center

CBL & Associates Properties Inc. and Horizon Group Properties Inc. plan to develop The Outlet Shoppes at Louisville in Simpsonville, Ky.

Off Interstate 64, the 370,000-square-foot project will serve Louisville, Lexington, Frankfort and the surrounding area, according to Chattanooga-based CBL. It will be the only outlet center in Kentucky.

Construction will begin in June with the grand opening scheduled for late summer 2014. The Outlet Shoppes at Louisville is more than 75 percent leased or committed with outlet retailers such as Coach, Banana Republic, Brooks Brothers and Chico's, CBL said.
