Baby pinned against wall by minivan and killed in Dalton, Ga.

DALTON, Ga. - Sheriff's officials in northwest Georgia say a 2-month-old baby has died after her mother accidentally pinned her to a wall.

Whitfield County sheriff's Capt. Rick Swiney tells the Dalton Daily Citizen the baby's father was carrying her in a car seat Sunday. Officials say the woman was moving their minivan so the baby's father wouldn't have to walk through water to get inside the house.

Swiney says when the man walked in front of the van, the woman's foot slipped from the brake and onto the accelerator.

Swiney says the man is expected to recover, but the child was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Investigators will provide a report to the district attorney, but Swiney says officials don't expect to press charges.
