Auto suppliers plan to add jobs

Two Middle Tennessee automotive suppliers are preparing to expand their plants and add 200 jobs. Van-Rob, a division of the German-based Kirchhoff Automotive, will expand its Engineered Lightweight Automotive Solutions operation in Manchester, Tenn., through a $16.8 million addition expected to add 104 jobs. Van-Rob has operated its Manchester plant since 2006 in the Coffee County Industrial Park. In Murfreesboro, NHK Seating of America announced plans Thursday to add 94 more workers through a $6.8 million plant expansion. NHK has operated in Murfreesboro for the past three years. The two automotive suppliers are among more than 400 automotive manufactuirng operations in Tennessee that collectively employ more than 105,000 workers.


Alexander assets worth millions

U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., listed assets in 2012 valued between $6.6 million and $19.2 million, according to his personal financial disclosure report released this week. Alexander's biggest holdings were $1 million to $5 million in stock in Custom Foods Corp. of Knoxville and $1 million to $5 million in commercial property, also in Knoxville. He also listed a variety of commercial and residential properties near Victoria, Texas, and San Antonio, Texas, valued at $749,000 to $1.7 million.

U.S. Sen. Bob Corker, also a Republican from Tennessee, received an extension that gives him until Aug. 13 to file his financial disclosure. House members must file their financial disclosures in June.
