Riders as young as 3 will be able to race like the pros on Monday.

As part of the Volkswagen USA Cycling Professional Road and Time Trial National Championships, UnitedHealthcare is sponsoring a Kid's Race for young riders in three age groups -- 3-6, 7-9 and 10-12.

The number of racers per group is limited to 30, so pre-registration is encouraged.

The race itself will take place at the same start/finish line the pros will be using on Market Street near Miller Plaza.

"It's a fun way to get the family out to the event, and it's fun for the kids who get to ride the same course and cross the same finish line as the pros. It also promotes wellness in the community," says Emily Sanders, manager of corporate partnerships at Medalists Sports, which is producing the event.

There are a few rules for the youngsters. Each rider must wear a helmet, but Mom and/or Dad is welcome on the course to assist the riders.

There is no charge to ride, and each racer will be awarded a water bottle, T-shirt and a medal.
