Austin joins Direct South

Steve Austin has been named project manager for Direct South Inc., a restaurant equipment supply company based in Macon, Ga., Direct South has additional locations in Warner Robbins and Gainesville, Ga.

Austin, a veteran restaurant equipment sales specialist, previously worked for American Foodservice Equipment Co. Inc. and Lillie McCall. He has been in the business 30 years, based in Chattanooga, with a nationwide customer base.

"We are also excited to be venturing into such a great area and wonderful community as Chattanooga," said Nick Adams, president of Direct South.


Wheeler is CFO for Parkridge East

Amy Wheeler is joining the administrative team at Parkridge East Hospital as chief financial officer. Wheeler comes to the Parkridge system on June 3 from a position as Controller of HCA's TriStar Centennial Medical Center in Nashville.

Wheeler began her career with HCA after graduating from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville. She has been with the company for the past nine years, serving as senior internal auditor at HCA's corporate office before assuming the role of assistant controller at TriStar Centennial. She has served as controller of TriStar Centennial since 2009.

Law firm expands to Chattanooga

The Knoxville-based law firm Wimberly Lawson Wright Daves & Jones, P.C. has opened a Chattanooga office, sharing space with the existing Chattanooga law firm Bob E. Lype & Associates, at 6181 Vance Road. The two law firms will operate independent practices from the location, but they also plan to work jointly to serve mutual clients in the Chattanooga area.

Wimberly Lawson is a regional law firm with about 30 attorneys at offices in Knoxville, Nashville, Cookeville and Morristown. Lype has practiced law in Chattanooga for 23 years, including previous experience with large and mid-sized Chattanooga law firms. He is a frequent author and speaker on employment law matters, and like Wimberly Lawson, his practice involves extensive representation of employers in a wide variety of employment law matters.


Zeimet joins Black Creek Club

Black Creek Mountain, a resort-style community in Lookout Valley, has hired Jon Zeimet as the club's new head golf professional. Zeimet was previously head golf pro at the Country Club of Mobile for 11 years and previously worked at the University of South Alabama at Gulf Pines, Timber Creek Golf Club, Vestavia Country Club and Stellwood Country Club.

Black Creek Club consistently ranks within the Top 10 Golf Courses in Tennessee by Golf Digest and was recently selected No. 63 in Golfweek's 2012 Best Residential Golf Courses in America. Black Creek was the only course in Tennessee to make the list.

"Jon is an excellent player and prolific teacher, and has created quite a buzz among our golfers at Black Creek," said Ben Jones, Black Creek's general manager.


Parkridge names development head

Parkridge Health System has promoted Rebecca Carroll to the position of vice president of business development for the Chattanooga market.

Carroll has been with Parkridge Health System for the past 13 years, serving most recently as director of surgical relations.

In her new role, Carroll will initiate, implement and coordinate business initiatives and service line growth. Her principal responsibilities will include identification and execution of business development opportunities and outreach strategies for the Parkridge hospitals.

Carroll is a graduate of Covenant College and earned a master's degree in health administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.


USFloors wins excellence honors

USFloors has been awarded the 2013 Award of Excellence in the Cork and Bamboo Flooring category. The Award of Excellence is voted on by floor covering retailers and presented by Floor Covering News magazine and the World Floor Covering Association.

Brown earns CRF designation

Mark C. Brown of the Merrill Lynch Chattanooga office has earned the certified financial planner designation. The designation is awarded to individuals who meet the education, examination and experience standards set by the Certified Financial Planning board of standards.

Whitton earns CFP designation

Teresa Whitton, vice president and trust officer for FSG Bank, has earned her CFP designation from the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards.

Whitton has worked at FSG Bank since April 2012. She is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University and the ABA National Graduate Trust School. She has worked in wealth management for more than 20 years and holds the Certified Trust and Financial Advisor designation. She currently serves on the board of directors of the Estate Planning Council of Chattanooga.
