Chattanooga man arrested, charged in armed robbery spree

A local man is now behind bars after an armed robbery spree in Chattanooga.

Detectives with the Chattanooga Police Department's robbery unit arrested Derrick Sean Starnes, 21, on Wednesday, according to a news release.

Police said Starnes robbed the Kangaroo Express on Ashland Terrace twice, once on May 8 and again on May 13. He also robbed another Kangaroo Express on May 10 and a Mapco on May 23, both on Highway 153, according to police.

At each location, the robber used a knife to threaten the clerks.

Starnes has been charged with four counts of aggravated robbery, according to police.
