Walker slaying suspect arrested
Members of the U.S. Marshals Service arrested a suspect in a Walker County, Ga., slaying Tuesday evening.
Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson said officers found 20-year-old Marcus Sutton inside a home at the corner of Fifth Avenue and East 31st Street around 4:45 p.m. The sheriff's office believes Sutton killed 23-year-old Anderson Trammel Watts Jr. in a Rossville apartment last Wednesday night.
Wilson said Sutton is being treated for a leg injury before going to the Hamilton County Jail. Sutton apparently injured his leg running away after shooting Watts.
If Sutton did commit the slaying, investigators still aren't sure why. Sutton and Watts attended Ridgeland High School together.
Walker County shooting suspect in custody
Lee Everette Strawter, 42, turned himself in Wednesday at the Rossville Police Department on charges he shot a man who lived across the street from him, according to the Walker County Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff Steve Wilson said Strawter and 24-year-old Quinton Cox got into an argument Tuesday about a woman whom both men used to date. During the argument in Cox's front yard, Strawter allegedly pulled out a .357-caliber handgun and shot Cox two or three times.
Strawter also shot Cox's home, where his wife and stepchildren were, Wilson said. But only Cox got hit. He then retreated to his home, and his wife drove him to Hutcheson Medical Center. Doctors later transferred him to Erlanger hospital, where he remained Tuesday evening.
Wilson said that Strawter took off after the shooting.
Strawter faces four warrants charging aggravated assault and was taken to the Walker County Jail.
