BLACKSBURG, Va. - The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga let one slip away Sunday and finished the Hokie Duals at Virginia Tech with a 1-2 record.

Levi Clemons was up 1-0 but then gave up a takedown very late in the match which resulted in a 19-17 Rider victory.

"We should've gone 2-1. We left a good team win out there," Mocs coach Heath Eslinger said. "But, no, you don't let it be on one guy's doorstep. We have to get all 10 guys to compete hard together. We were in the match but they wound up being the only undefeated team there."

UTC defeated Hofstra 19-14 and lost to 17th-ranked Virginia Tech 27-10.

Corey Mock (165), Nick Soto (133) and Alex Hudson each went 3-0 on the day.

"Corey beat three pretty good guys. Two of them were ranked," Eslinger said. "And I'm very proud of Soto. I challenged him Saturday morning, and he beat one guy that was ranked 16th in the country and another guy from Hofstra that's pretty good."

Jared Johnson (197) tweaked his knee and had to injury default against Virginia Tech. Scottie Boykin took his place.

"Jared will be fine, but I'm telling you, Boykin looked good," Eslinger said.

The Mocs are using Clay Dent right now at 184 but hope to have John Lampe back when they return to action Saturday in another home meet against Life University and Shorter. The Life meet begins at 5:30 and will be followed by the Shorter match.
