CLEVELAND, TENN. - Dan Howell, longtime Executive Assistant to Bradley County Mayor Gary Davis, announced his campaign for State House District 22 today.
In a news release, Howell said the community has stood by his family in trying times.
"I determined if I were ever given the opportunity to repay this community I would take it," he said in the release. "That is why I am announcing my campaign for State Representative."
He said the campaign is not a stepping-stone to another position or career, but "simply an opportunity to serve the community I love."
In the release, Howell said he would fight for lower taxes, less government, Second Amendment rights and the sanctity of human life and marriage.
Howell is also a member of the Tennessee Republican Party State Executive Committee.
During his campaign, he has taken a leave of absence from his job in the County Mayor's office.
District 22 covers parts of Bradley County, and all of Polk and Meigs counties.
