The museum has issued a call for submissions to its annual quilt show, to be held Jan. 23-March 1. The theme of this year's show, "Stitches in Time: Hand Quilting," will explore the simple yet intricate art of quilting by hand.

Cleveland, Tenn.'s Museum Center at 5ive Points is calling for submissions to display in its annual quilt show to open in late January, according to officials.

The theme of the show, set to run from Jan. 23 to March 1, 2014, is "Stitches in Time: Hand Quilting," and the museum is taking 25 quilts finished before 1950 and the first 25 contemporary submissions for exhibition, curator of collections Lisa Chastain said.

"This year's focus on hand quilting will be a fascinating exploration of the origins of this textile art form," Chastain said in a news release.

Submissions will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, she said. A qualified quilting expert will judge submissions for color, design and technique.
