City officials today announced a way for individuals or groups to honor a member of the military service by donating the cost of an American flag that will fly over the Veterans Bridge.

Transportation Administrator Blythe Bailey will introduce the Veterans Bridge Flag Initiative at today's City Council meeting, according to a new release from the city.

Each flag is $75. The flags will fly on numbered poles from May 1 until after Veterans Day in November, the release stated.

Thirty American flags fly from May through November each year on Chattanooga's Veterans Bridge. Honorees will receive a certificate, signed by Mayor Andy Berke, recognizing their service to our country and identifying the pole number from which their flag flies.
