Hamilton County commissioners pull agenda item for more funding for firing range

Wednesday, November 20, 2013

Hamilton County commissioners today pulled an agenda item seeking an additional $550,000 for the joint city-county downtown police firing range.

Sheriff Jim Hammond told commissioners today he felt Mayor Jim Coppinger should meet with Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke and get "more concrete numbers" for the construction project.

Costs for the planned indoor range in the 700 block of East 12th Street had increased by $1.05 million recently, due to architectural fees and soil remediation that had not been included in the project's original construction budget.

Chairman Fred Skillern said he agreed with Hammond.
