Why do those that think WM employees are not paid consistent with their knowledge, skill and ability keep shopping there and buying all those imported products? those products could be produced by Americans in higher paying jobs. When people insist those working at a business should be paid more they are saying I want to pay more for what I buy. Paying more would result in less money to buy with, decreasing demand for goods or services and reduce the number of employees needed.

It is as simple as produce them at an American manufacturer paying the highest corporate tax rate in the world but creating American jobs and people with money to spend. Then, pay the WM employees more to sell those products at a higher cost. What would a cartoon around that look like?

Reduce the unemployment rate to 5% or less and employers would have to pay more to attract employees that are less qualified than those they have now.

Money goes to where it is treated best, people go to where they are treated best, employers treat best those with the most to offer.

Also, I have been a Wal Mart stock holder for many years. It's a great stock to own, come on people.....it's where all the Obama voters go to spend their monthly EBT Card money. Wal Mart stock is a great way for us MAKERS to cash in on the Obamer TAKERS! Lol! The left has attacked Wallmart for so many years with negative stories and it is not going to change. Walmart is a symbol of capitalism and the left is adamantly opposed to capitalism.

The poor shop at Walmart. Why is that? Could it be the prices?

The middle class and even wealthy shop Walmart. Could it be the prices?

And those writing the negative stories and drawing negative cartoons shop Walmart also.

Hmm, there is probably a word for that.

Another stupid hit piece by a Democrat Party/statist hack. What a surprise. Leave Walmart alone, they employ millions and place stores in place where no one else will go. Take a trip across the USA and you'll see a Walmart in many, many isolated places. Obama, and his minions, like Bennett, and folks at MSNBC, etc, are like those thugs that are playing that "knockout" game that's spreading around this country these days. You sneak up on someone and punch them, hoping to knock them out. Not even giving them a chance to defend themselves. Obama is the first "knockout" game president. Obamacare is like that game, you pass it, don't tell anyone what's in it, lie, and then spring it on them.

November 20, 2013 at 7:41 a.m.

The left are "knockout" thugs. When they don't get their way, or don't have the guts to do things up front, through congress/the people, they'll do it behind our backs through executive order or through the court. Sneaking up behind the people. Obama is really good at what he does.

“In short, what the living wage is really about is not living standards, or even economics, but morality. Its advocates are basically opposed to the idea that wages are a market price -- determined by supply and demand, the same as the price of apples or coal. And it is for that reason, rather than the practical details, that the broader political movement of which the demand for a living wage is the leading edge is ultimately doomed to failure: For the amorality of the market economy is part of its essence, and cannot be legislated away.” - Paul Krugman**

Well there you have it. The number one Fleabagger economist is telling you, just like all good Fleabaggers will say, You can’t legislate morality. He telling you flatly that if you believe in the concept of a living wage in a free market economy and especially in a global market you are doomed to failure. Your only option is to dictate your preferred morality (socialism?) through an authoritarian or dictatorial political system. For as long as the concept of individual freedom and private property exists human nature will always find a way to bring personal gain to the fore. You can take it to the bank ... literally.

And in those same isolated places just how many "Mom and Pop" stores has Wal-mart run out of business? See those stores can't compete when Wal-mart comes to town.

If you’re in the retail business there are a few things that determine your survival. At the front, as everyone says, it’s “location” but just as important is value supplied, customer service, and loyalty. I know of a family business that provides a product only 1/4 of a mile from a big box store that provides the same. Their sales for that product exceeds the big box and they do it on service, customer loyalty and primarily on value supplied alone.

It’s very doable but the businessperson near a big box store that doesn’t have the abilities to compete head to head on a specific service or product needs to face the realities of the market. Maybe their efforts would be better spent in finding a niche market that the big box doesn’t serve. If they have any entrepreneurial skills and knowledge at all they already know those realities. Those that are unwilling to take the risks should find an employee position.

Sometimes “mom and pop” are only that ...Right?

From The American Spectator:

Fortunately, unlike many spineless CEOs in America whose desire to get along, or whose interest in cronyism and rent-seeking, causes them to play the Washington games and look for a “compromise,” Walmart is nobody’s pushover. In 2005, workers at a Walmart in Quebec voted to unionize. Within hours of being told that it would be forced into arbitration, Walmart announced the closing of the store.

(Fleabaggers) may see Walmart as a bully or an exploiter. Walmart responds that their employees love their jobs and that the company “has their backs.” What any given person believes will be more subjective than based on particular facts.

But there is one fact that would seem to trump all others: In a free society, where people can choose among their available options whatever they believe is best for themselves and their families, Walmart has more employees than any other company -- no thanks to unions or Democrats.

That is what (Fleabaggers are) really angry about.

Their business plan is based on installing apps and instructional serves that allows their customers to access the weather channel on their handheld devices. Oddly enough most of their income comes from resetting digital clock devices on the many household appliances that are not battery backed up during power outages.

There has been some controversy as they have been accused of grabbing small community pets and flinging them into power substations. I not sure they do so but the power seems to go out here quite often.

soakya...Do you have a specific example of a tax payer incentive to Walmart? Walmart, Target and other retail businesses have an effective tax rate of 34-35% every year. This is unlike the favored financials, brokers and energy sectors that pay zero up to 17%. A lower tax rate would enable WM and other retailers selling to the public to pay employees more or charge people less for their products. Why do you think they stock imports instead of made in America stuff?

Do you think the taxes they pay are reflected in those items you buy? It is called the fools tax in private by those in congress.

No more criticizing the ACA or the pres....too dangerous. The following was too quick to be a coincidence:

The insurance commissioner of Washington DC was fired a day after criticizing President Obama's plans to fix problems with the Affordable Care Act, the Washington Post reported.

On Thursday, the president said people who had had their insurance canceled because of the law would be able to keep it next year. Insurers were quick to criticize the plan, though, as being difficult and costly to implement on short notice.

Some regulators were also skeptical, among them DC commissioner William White, the Post said.

According to the paper, White issued a statement Thursday saying the president's fix "undercut the purpose of the exchanges."

By the next morning, the Post reported, the statement had been removed from the web, and by Friday afternoon, DC officials fired White.

White told the paper he thought his dismissal was linked to his statement. An insurance department spokesman declined comment to the Post on White's status.

I have to admit Zableedofisterix, your scenario. ”Obama rolls in the tanks to seize all the Walmarts” is absolutely fabulous.

Sometimes I just can’t help myself, so...

I can just picture it. M-1’s crashing into your local WalMart parking lot – honking wildly – Obama’s head sticking out on top of the turret with that big folksy smile. Fat women in electric scooters whizzing around to avoid being crushed like the lines of shopping carts being tossed and flattened before them. Pajama wearing mothers and wailing kids with half eaten candy bars dangling from their mouths, in stunned disbelief, are unable to move.

Stopping about 50 meters in front of the main entrance Obama barks the command. BIDEN Obama care round – LOAD. A few seconds later he hears - UP! FIRE!! Instead of a mighty BOOM, there is only a muffled boop. The round goes about 5 meters and is now rolling around into a cart corral. Mmm..sh!t! BIDEN -Propaganda round -LOAD NOW! A few seconds later he hears – UP again. BOOM – direct hit thru the big star. He looks back down inside the turret. "Who Aimed that shot?"

Meanwhile Hillary’s tank is performing a flanking maneuver around the side of the building at the auto service center. Up over a berm the Abrams roars. But what’s this!? There seems to be a struggle in the hatch. She and McCain are fighting over the 50 cal. McCain can’t lift his arms high enough, so the enraged blonde harridan grabs Ma Deuce. Seeing a group of slack jawed mullet cut stars & bars wearing trailer dads by the service bays, she opens up – spraying bullets everywhere. McCain yells out, Hillary! You have to AIM the damn thing!! To which she loudly snarls, What "Difference Does It Make?"

And then they all go to McDonald's.

VICTORY!

Obama, Reid, Pelosi, Boehner, McCain, Schumer, McConnel, and all the others like them, are destroying this country with their extremism and cowardice. Democrats being the extremists, and Establishment GOP being the cowards. Obama craps and pisses on the Constitution and on the citizenry, while the Republicans stand around scratching their scrotums and asses afraid to say a word because Obama is our first mulatto president.

Fairmon says:

"It is amazing that the president gets a 39% approval rating when 47% pay zero federal income tax with a high number getting a refund larger than the amount of taxes paid."

It's easy. There are many millionaires that pay zero in federal income tax and other people that make a comfortable living and receive a higher refund than taxes paid. Close all loopholes. But then again, there are many millionaires that voted for Obama and many people living in poverty that voted for Romney. Of course, people no longer vote for persons any longer, they vote for parties.

Hypocrisy on both sides of the aisle. Congressman from FL pushing bill that requires drug testing for welfare recipients and then busted for buying coke. Why no push for drug testing on lawmakers?
