The 2015 ASA 16-and-under national championship softball will be in Chattanooga, officials announced Thursday.
“Chattanooga is lucky to have a team that works well together and cares about bringing softball events to the city. Our community can make it happen from winning the bid to hosting the event,” Kim Swafford, Executive Director of Chattanooga ASA, said in a release from the school.
According to a release from the city, Chattanooga competed for the 2015 National Championship against Des Moines, Iowa, Montgomery, Ala., Normal, Ill., Sioux Falls, S.D., Spartanburg, S.C., and Tupelo, Miss.
“This Championship is projected to bring close to 145 travel teams to Chattanooga for a week, producing an estimated economic impact to exceed $2,000,000," Tim Morgan, President of the Chattanooga Sports Committee, was quoted in the release. "The summer of 2015 is looking to be even better than the successful summer we had this year. We are honored to be a part of the team that worked extremely hard to bring this event to the region.”
