Chris Massengale had one of two 800 series in the Chattanooga Area Bowling Association's 52nd annual open mixed tournament held the past two weekends at Holiday Bowl Hixson, and his father, Frank, had one of the two 300 series. They both were part of the top two teams in both handicap and scratch scoring, and Chris was the all-events handicap and scratch winner while Frank won both singles titles and joined Tracy Bleil in tying for the doubles handicap victory. Chris was his runner-up in singles scratch. Chris Harmon had an 824 series Sunday in winning scratch doubles with Brittany Williams. Chris Massengale rolled an 813 in the Nov. 16 team event. Chris Colen joined Frank Massengale with a perfect game during the tournament, and Derold Millsaps had a 299.

Basketball

• The Cleveland State women's basketball team completed a weekend sweep in Middle Tennessee with a 69-66 win Saturday at Volunteer State, making the Lady Cougars 9-1 overall and 5-1 in the TCCAA, but the Cleveland State men lost for the third time in a row after a 6-0 start, 83-76, and are 3-3 in league play. Chattanooga State's Lady Tigers (6-2, 4-2) won 68-58 at Motlow on Saturday after losing 79-58 at Vol State on Friday, and the Chatt State men are 2-4 in the TCCAA after falling 106-99 at Vol and 96-89 in overtime at Motlow.
