The Distraction

about Clay Bennett...

The son of a career army officer, Bennett led a nomadic life, attending ten different schools before graduating in 1980 from the University of North Alabama with degrees in Art and History. After brief stints as a staff artist at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and the Fayetteville (NC) Times, he went on to serve as the editorial cartoonist for the St. Petersburg Times (1981-1994) and The Christian Science Monitor (1997-2007), before joining the staff of the ...

And while you're looking the other way, the GOP distraction action faction brings us another episode of 'drill here, drill now' news:

In typical Orwellian fashion, Republicans are pushing so called 'energy security bills'- that are nothing more than giveaways to oil and gas companies. Their proposals speed up permits for oil and gas drilling on federal lands, mandate that a quarter of all nominated federal acreage be available for leasing, and bar any federal regulation of fracking. In other words give oil and gas companies the uncontested right to drill wherever and wherever they want on public lands.

And here's the best part. If an individual does not like any proposed drilling project and wanted to oppose it, he or she would have to pay a $5,000 fee to file an official protest.

There's no doubt that there's an all effort to distract from this issue because Obama's numbers are dropping like a brick. He's not trusted anymore, and he's being viewed as incompetent. It’d be funny (Republican distraction) if it weren’t so sad.

Republicans own the shutdown, obstructionism, austerity, dysfunction, divisiveness, personal attacks, deception, and misinformation. Their campaign of distortion, double standards and elevation of the term “bearing false witness” to an art form is an open secret weapon used to extract the last vestiges of the middle class; not only to satisfy their insatiable avarice, but to vindictively punish Americans for rejecting their tired ideologies.

Has anyone ever noticed that 100% of the time, attempting to hold Republicans accountable the subject is immediately changed; empty & duplicitous accusations start flying like bats from Carlsbad Caverns, the sophomoric (and undersigned) use of Socratic methodology emerges, or as a last resort are denounced as un-American or treasonous?

One such person exemplifies such behavior. Right here - in this forum - on a daily basis.

As Republicans cannot win on the issues, they’re resorting to voter suppression and rigging elections. It’s happening and spreading to more and more states; while they keep the distractive propaganda flowing (Fox news) like the Big Muddy.

Remember, as soon as you hear a tried and true hot button issues come up – (tick tick tick) - you can count on the GOP to be planning another nefarious act of economic sabotage.

Democrats are by any measure damn near as bad. They just aren’t quite as professional in their tactics.

And Yet.

It’d be funny (Republican distraction) if it weren’t so sad.

Republicans own the shutdown, obstructionism, austerity, dysfunction, divisiveness, personal attacks, deception, and misinformation.

Their campaign of distortion, double standards and elevation of the term “bearing false witness” to an art form is an open secret weapon used to extract the last vestiges of the middle class;

not only to satisfy their insatiable avarice

vindictively punish Americans for rejecting their tired ideologies.

they’re resorting to voter suppression and rigging elections

they keep the distractive propaganda flowing (Fox news) like the Big Muddy.

you can count on the GOP to be planning another nefarious act of economic sabotage.

But of course this in no way can be taken for an endorsement of Fleabagger positions as that would pin you down to ideas and ideals you would have to defend.... Right?

How about a laugh from the past? President Clinton on Tuesday approved a deal reached by U.S. negotiators in Geneva to stop North Korea’s nuclear weapons program, saying the agreement “will make the United States, the Korean peninsula and the world safer.”

"Limmy must waste hours constructing his fustian, magniloquent posts. It's almost tacky. The guy must have self esteem problems. Perhaps he always wanted to be a member of the Bard. But got stuck in his low level civil service position. Ah well, we all compensate in different ways." - PT

Fustian? Magniloquent? Wow...those are some pretty impressive $5 words. Seems like PT is not above his own kind of magniloquence.

I rather enjoy limric's originality. Why can't someone be original without your accusing them of "compensating" for something? PT, you waste not only hours but entire days - day after day after day after day - sitting on your ass in front of your computer, glued to this forum like a fly to cow dung, and you can't come up with anything but your stale one-liners and barbs aimed at anyone to the left of center. You just regurgitate the same right-wing talking points over and over and over. (Yes, I repeat some of the same left wing points of view, too, but at least I admit unabashedly to being a liberal). You can't even admit who/what you really are. Your claim that you are an "independent moderate" is a joke. If you were truly moderate or independent you would agree with the liberal position at least part of the time. But you always take the hard-liner right-wing stance EVERY TIME. Hell, you're not even a moderate right-winger, you're as radical right as they come.

I will take limric's originality and "magniloquence" any day over your stale, disingenuous, knee-jerk sniping...even when you have a few $5 words thrown in.
