The Tennessee Temple University men's basketball team trailed by two points at halftime but scored 55 in the second half for a 96-80 victory over visiting Reinhardt that gave the Crusaders 1,000 victories in the program's 52 years. Temple, a longtime power in the National Christian College Athletic Association, is 1,000-748 after going 23-13 under coach Brac Brady last year and beginning this season 6-2 under Jeff Haarlow. Jarrett Smith had 19 points and nine rebounds and Elliot Johnson had 15 points and 13 rebounds Tuesday, when Hampton Mack also scored 15 points and Travaris Clarke and Rashaud Bell added 14 and 11.

• Cleveland High School graduate Ish Sanders erupted from a three-game shooting slump with 31 points in Carson-Newman University's 94-80 South Atlantic Conference basketball win Tuesday night at Mars Hill. Sanders was 6-of-9 on 3-point shots during the game and scored 12 points in a row during a surge that carried the Eagles from eight points down late in the first half to a double-digit lead early in the second.

• Sewanee seniors Atticus Frank in the offensive line and Quentin Jones in the secondary made the All-Southern Athletic Association football first team announced Tuesday, and junior offensive lineman Brandon Miller from Tullahoma and senior linebacker Dave McKeithen and sophomore defensive back Alex Kops were Tigers on the second team. Frank and Miller helped Sewanee lead the SAA in rushing with 251 yards per game, and Jones had 32 solo tackles, nine assists, five lost-yardage tackles and three interceptions. Kops led the league with 55 solo stops and had 80 total tackles and two pickoffs, and McKeithen had 38 solos among his 62 stops, with nine for loss and a fumble recovery. Sewanee's Charlie Powell, Brandon Campbell, Lonnie Scott, De'Nard Ford and kicker Callum Wishart from Ooltewah received All-SAA honorable mention.
