Alabama man accused of sending girls obscene photos

SUMITON, Ala. - Police in a small town near Birmingham have accused a 28-year-old man of sending obscene photos to girls who range from 11 to 16 years old.

Sumiton Police arrested Carl Wright of Trussville this week, charging with one count of transmitting obscene materials to an underage child. Authorities told The Daily Mountain Eagle that they have evidence of at least eight potential victims, with more possible pending a complete investigation.

Walker County District Attorney Bill Adair told the newspaper that he expects to file additional charges soon.

Authorities have seized all of his electronic devices.

Police say Wright encountered minor females online, particularly through the social media site Facebook. Their theory is that Wright posed as a teenage boy and that he didn't know any of the alleged victims.
