A police car blocks off one part of Broad Street downtown earlier today as police reportedly checked a suspicious package. The portion of Broad between Fourth and Fifth streets later reopened.

A portion of Broad Street downtown has been reopened after having been closed earlier in the afternoon as Chattanooga policemen reportedly checked a suspicious package.

Early reports had said that the bomb unit was on its way to the area on Broad between Fourth and Fifth streets.
