CROSSVILLE, Tenn. - Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty for a man charged with murdering a woman and three teenagers in an attempted robbery during a pot deal in a former mountain resort in eastern Tennessee

The decision to seek the death penalty for Jacob Allen Bennett was announced in a court hearing in Crossville on Thursday.

Bennett and girlfriend Lina Yvonn Moser have each been charged with four felony murder and two attempted aggravated robbery charges. Bennett, who is accused of being the gunman, is also charged with four counts of premeditated murder.

Prosecutors are not seeking the death penalty for Moser.

Deputy District Attorney General Gary McKenzie said Bennett withdrew an earlier statement that he wanted to plead guilty. Bennett's attorney didn't immediately return a message seeking comment.
