Traffic shift expected on I-75 south at Rocky Face this weekend

The Georgia Department of Transportation has announced that motorists traveling on I-75 south between Exit 336/State Route 3/US 41 and Exit 333/Walnut Avenue in Whitfield County should expect a traffic shift this weekend.

GDT said southbound traffic on I-75 will be shifted to the left between mile posts 337 and 333 beginning Saturday at 9 a.m. to allow work on reconstructing the Rocky Face Interchange.

This traffic shift is weather permitting and subject to change.

This shift, GDT said, marks the start of staged reconstruction on the interchange of I-75 and U.S. 41, also known as the Rocky Face interchange in Whitfield County.

The project also includes constructing four bridges and installing intersection video detection systems.

The entire project is scheduled to be completed by the end of June 2016 at a cost of nearly $34 million.
