Chick-Fil-A opens new tent outlet

The Brainerd Village Chick-Fil-A is taking its chicken biscuits on the road. The local franchisee set up a tent Friday along Signal Mountain Road where it will sell chicken biscouts, coffee and tea for breakfast every weekday from 7 to 9 a.m. "We decided to start it today with the Baylor-McCallie game, but we'll be there every weekday morning to serve that part of town," said Nick Goebeler, operator for the Brainerd Chick-Fil-A franchisee. The outlet is located on Jim Weaver's lot, where Christmas trees are traditionally sold during November and December. Goebler said Chick-Fil-A may add lunches or dinners during the holiday season from the tent location.

Economist touts benefit reforms

Nobel laureate Robert Lucas will discuss entitlement reform on Monday at noon in the UTC University Center Auditorium. Lucas, a John Dewey Distinguished Service professor of economics at the University of Chicago, won the Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences in 1995 for applying rational expectations to the field of economic policy.

Theoretical research by Lucas and others could hold the key for reforming entitlements in the U.S., the economist believes. Russell Sobel, a visiting scholar in entrepreneurship at The Citidel, will critique Lucas' speech, which is sponsored by the Scott L. Probasco Jr. Chair of Free Enterprise.
