Erlanger names 4 physicians

Erlanger Health System has added four new physicians: Drs. Helen Furr, Jesse Doty, Brian Cooper, and Dharmendra A. Patel.

Academic Internal Medicine added Furr to its team. Furr is board-certified in family medicine and has practiced in the Chattanooga area since 2005.

Southern orthopaedic trauma surgeons added Doty and his practice, UT Erlanger Foot and Ankle Institute. Doty is a fellowship trained foot and ankle orthopaedic surgeon predominantly focused on arthroscopic and open reconstruction procedures of the lower extremity.

Patel and Cooper have joined the team of 12 board-certified cardiologists at UT Erlanger Cardiology. Patel is board-certified in internal medicine and board-eligible in cardiovascular disease and specializes in general cardiology and multimodality cardiovascular imaging.

Cooper is board-certified in internal medicine and cardiology and board-eligible in electrophysiology.

Lindeman chosen at FSGBank

Peter Lindeman has been chosen as a senior vice president and director of treasury management sales and services at FSGBank.

FSGBank's treasury management services are designed to help commercial and small business banking clients manage their time and money more efficiently and focus on cash flow management, information systems, and risk mitigation. Lindeman brings 18 years of private banking, treasury management and merchant services experience to the FSGBank team.

Prior to joining FSGBank, he worked at First Citizens Bank in Atlanta, where he was a senior vice president and Atlanta private banking director. Lindeman also worked as the merchant services director and treasury management director while working at First Citizens Bank.

"Business banking is about relationships and great treasury management products and services are at the core of those business banking relationships," said FSGBank President and CEO Mike Kramer.

Entrepreneur launches jewelry business

Krissie Eslinger of Chattanooga has launched a new business as an independent designer with Origami Owl Custom Jewelry, a social selling company.

Eslinger holds interactive events where she helps guests create one-of-a-kind personalized jewelry that best reflects their style.

Origami Owl was founded by a 14-year-old entrepreneur. Inspired by the desire to create jewelry that would be beautiful, meaningful, whimsical and fun, Isabella Weems launched the company with the goal of saving enough money to buy her first car.

Today Weems' business model is replicated by independent designers nationwide.

Schmitt picked as society's president-elect

The American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy has appointed Dr. Colleen M. Schmitt of the Galen Medical Group in Chattanooga as president-elect.

Schmitt assumed her duties in May. Her term will continue through May 2014 at which time she will become president. She became a member of ASGE in 1994 and has served on a number of committees.

From 2005-2009 she served as chair of the group's Health and Public Policy Committee and was a member of the Research Committee for several years.

She is medical director at Memorial Research Center and was chief of the Division of Gastroenterology at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine, Chattanooga Unit. Schmitt grew up in Ringgold, Ga.
