MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Officials say a 35-year-old man has been convicted for the second time in a 2004 shooting that left one man dead and another wounded in the Memphis neighborhood of Frayser.

The Shelby County district attorney's office says Gerald McEwen has been convicted of first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder in the June 13, 2004 shooting.

Nicholas Harris was shot in the neck. The 19-year-old died in July of the following year.

Darren Champion was shot in the back, but survived.

McEwen was sentenced to life in prison on the first-degree murder conviction and faces up to 25 years on the attempted first-degree murder conviction.

McEwen was convicted on both charges in 2008, but later was awarded a new trial when a judge ruled that his attorney did not properly represent him.
