Collector donating 1,000 postcards to UT Martin

MARTIN, Tenn. - Nashville historian Ridley Wills II is sharing some of his vast postcard collection with the University of Tennessee at Martin's Paul Meek Library.

Wills has given the library more than 1,000 postcards from his personal collection of some 28,000 Tennessee cards.

Included are all of Wills' Weakley County and Lake County postcards. Featured are photos and information from Gleason, Dresden, Greenfield, Martin and Reelfoot Lake.

The university says Wills, a former National Life and Accident Insurance Co. executive, started collecting Tennessee postcards as a child and continued after returning from the Navy.

Wills says he still collects some postcards but is giving more away, returning them to the areas shown on the cards.

The collection given to UT Martin will be available for the public to view and research.
