Despite the federal government shutdown, organizers of the 2013 Tennessee Civil War Sesquicentennial Signature Event in Chattanooga report that events will go on as planned this week.

Panelists will include Civil War historians from the Chattanooga area and elsewhere.

10 a.m. Occupation & Liberation opening ceremony
1:30 p.m. Symposium Session 1: Battles for Chattanooga, featuring Peter Cozzens, Brooks Simpson, Wiley Sword and moderator Glenn Robertson
7 p.m. Concert by Civil War music historian Bobby Horton
9 a.m. Symposium Session 2: Military Strategy in the Civil War, featuring James L. McDonough, Richard McMurry, Glenn Robertson and moderator Sam Elliott
