Civil War tours, symposiums continue this week - Oct. 10-12

photo Music historian Bobby Horton will present "Songs and Stories of the Civil War" at 7 p.m. Friday at the Chattanooga Convention Center. In his shows, Horton dresses in 19th-century-era garb and uses mid-19th-century instruments to explore the history of the war through the music of the time period. Ad- mission is free.

Despite the federal government shutdown, organizers of the 2013 Tennessee Civil War Sesquicentennial Signature Event in Chattanooga report that events will go on as planned this week.

Panelists will include Civil War historians from the Chattanooga area and elsewhere.
