Sodomy first degree charges face a Flat Rock, Ala., man.

According to a Jackson County Sheriff's Office release, Eugene Gilbert, 54, of Flat Rock was arrested Thursday in connection to an Oct. 3 incident in Bryant, Ala.

The release states that "in the early morning hours" of Oct. 3, deputies were dispatched to Bryant, where an unnamed 17-year-old male was reportedly the victim of sodomy.

In Alabama, sodomy first degree is a class A felony. The charge stems from an incident where one of three criteria are met.

According to findlaw.com, either a person "engages in deviate sexual intercourse with another person by forcible compulsion," a person "engages in deviate sexual intercourse with a person who is incapable of consent by reason of being physically helpless or mentally incapacitated" or a person "being 16 years old or older, engages in deviate sexual intercourse with a person who is less than 12 years old."

Gilbert is currently being held at Jackson County jail, and his bond is set at $25,000.
