An employee of the First Tennessee Bank branch at 7820 East Brainerd Road was wounded this morning when a suspect robbed the bank, Chattanooga Police said.

Tim McFarland, police department spokesman, said the suspect entered the bank at about 10:10 this morning, brandished a gun and fired it twice into the ceiling. During the robbery, an employee was shot. The employee suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

McFarland did not know how much money the suspect took.

He said the suspect got into a white KIA driven by a white woman.

The Chattanooga Police Department is currently investigating; the FBI is expected to take over the investigation.
