Police search for suspect in armored truck heist south of Atlanta

ATLANTA - Police and FBI agents are searching for a suspect in the robbery of an armored truck south of Atlanta.

Authorities say the man was able to wrestle a money bag away from an armed guard during the Tuesday afternoon heist. He made off with an undisclosed amount of money.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the crime happened shortly after 1 p.m. Tuesday at a BP gas station on Cascade Road.

Fulton County police Cpl. Kay Lester said the man had approached the armored truck guard leaving the convenience store and snatched the bag. Lester said he "motioned for a weapon" but didn't produce one. She said there was a scuffle between the suspect and the guard, ending in shots fired by the guard.
