Authorities search for escaped inmate in Decatur, Ala.

DECATUR, Ala. - Alabama Department of Corrections officials say they're searching for a 22-year-old man who escaped from a community-based facility in Decatur.

Department of Corrections spokesman Brian Corbett says 22-year-old inmate Cody Wade Snelling was listed as missing after he was unaccounted for during a head count Wednesday afternoon.

Corrections officials say Snelling didn't return to the facility from his work assignment.

Snelling is serving a two-year sentence for burglary from Calhoun County.

Officials say his sentence was scheduled to end next month.
