TUSKEGEE, Ala. - Comedian Bill Cosby has been announced as the keynote speaker for Tuskegee University's upcoming Homecoming/Charter Day convocation.

The Opelika-Auburn News reports the event is slated for Sunday at 9:30 a.m. in the Gen. Daniel "Chappie" James Arena.

Cosby is well known for his support of historically black colleges and universities that include Tuskegee. When "The Cosby Show" aired from 1984 through 1992, he often wore HBCU apparel, including a Tuskegee shirt in one episode.

Homecoming activities on the Tuskegee campus have already begun. This year's homecoming theme is "Celebrating the Spirit of Tuskegee."
