Chattanooga police are investigating a shooting that left a man wounded in the 1900 block of Wilson Street this afternoon.

Police said the victim, identified as Montez McClendon, was in the roadway.

Officer Tim McFarland said the victim was listed in stable condition and expected to be released today.

The victim was shot three times.

A woman who tended to the man's wounds in the street until paramedics arrived said he suffered wounds to his back, leg and foot.

It's unclear what led up to the shooting, McFarland said.

The gunman was last seen driving away in a black Honda Accord in an unknown direction, he said.
