A squirrel climbed onto equipment at EPB's Riverside substation this morning, causing a short and a brief power outage for about 1,500 downtown and North Chattanooga customers.

"Our automated system was activated and power was rerouted," EPB spokesman John Pless said "The squirrel is toast."
