The Chattanooga Symphony & Opera is playing a program composed entirely of audience favorites on Sunday, Nov. 3, during its Volkswagen Series "Classical's Top Hits" concert.

Sarah Marczynski, CSO community and patron engagement manager, says CSO conductor Kayoko Dan composed a list of favorite works last summer from categories such as waltzes, overtures and symphonies. The list was posted on the CSO's social-media sites, and patrons were asked to vote for the favorites they would like to hear played this season.

The 10 winners range from works even classical-music novices will recognize ("Overture to William Tell" and Pachelbel's Canon, a favorite wedding processional) to hits of die-hard fans such Sibelius' Finlandia.

This is the second year the five-concert Volkswagen series is being presented in the VW Conference Center. Because it is an afternoon concert in a more informal venue than the Tivoli, Marczynski said the atmosphere is more relaxed and so is the attire.

"People come in jeans and T-shirts to those who are still in their suits coming from church," she says.

She adds that concerts in this second year of the series will not be repeated in a second location as those of the first season were.

"This is the only place to hear these numbers," she advises.

Tickets will be sold at the door.
