Candy buy-back lets kids trick-or-treat for troops - Nov. 1-8

Tuesday, October 15, 2013

Trick-or-treaters who score an embarrassment of riches on Halloween have a chance to share their excess candy for a good cause.

Starting Friday, Nov. 1, Cloudland Dental will pay kids $1 per pound for their unopened candy and ship it to troops overseas.

"Pick a few of your favorite treats to keep, and then let us buy the rest," company founder Dr. Don Flanagan says in a news release. "A few pieces of candy here and there won't do much harm to your teeth, but doing away with excess sweets altogether would really give your mouth a healthy boost."

Candy will be collected during office hours at each Cloudland Dental office and at VW Drive Dental through Friday, Nov. 8.

"Kids can still have all the fun of trick-or-treating, and now their piggy banks will benefit as well," Flanagan says. "Plus, these glowing toothbrushes we're giving out are really cool -- kids will love to brush with them."
