Last year's Christmas for Kids Open Car and Truck show in South Pittsburg, Tenn., featured 202 classic and antique vehicles. This year's show is scheduled Saturday.Just as soon as Halloween is over, many will be turning their thoughts to Christmas. Here are some of the holiday-themed events happening this weekend.
* Car show: The South Pittsburg (Tenn.) Volunteer Fire Department and U.S. Stove Co. will present the third annual Christmas for Kids Open Car and Truck Show on Saturday, Nov. 2, at 411 S. Cedar Ave. downtown. Other events include a 5K run/walk, corn hole tournament and a bluegrass concert.
Registration for the car show is 8 a.m.-noon with a $20 entry fee. Judging will be at 12:15 p.m. and awards presented at 3 p.m. (all times Central). Goody bags and dash plaques will be presented to the first 150 entries. First-, second- and third-place awards will be given in 36 classes, along with Best of Show and specialty awards. Spectator admission is free.
Registration for the 5K closes at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, and the run/walk starts at 8 a.m. Entry fee is $25. For more information, leave a message at 423-837-5003.
Registration for the corn hole tournament is at 10:30 a.m., games at 11 a.m. Entry fee is $20 per team.
Mountain Faith and The Rigneys will be in concert at 7 p.m. at the Princess Theatre, 212 S. Cedar Ave. Tickets are $10 and will be available an hour before showtime. For more information, call 423-837-5924.
Christmas for Kids was begun in 2011 to help provide meals, clothes and toys to needy families.

* Toy run: The Blue Knights Motorcycle Club of Northwest Georgia will sponsor the 2013 Dino Richardson Memorial Toy Run benefiting Al Millard Memorial Stocking Full of Love on Sunday, Nov. 3. The ride starts at 2 p.m. at Ridgeland High School, 2478 Happy Valley Road in Rossville, and ends at LaFayette High School, 5178 Round Pond Road, where a live band will entertain and food will be served.
Participants are asked to bring a new, unwrapped toy or a cash donation.
Organizers say last year's toy run had more than 400 bikes participating and raised more than $10,000.

* Christmas open house: The Barn Nursery, 1801 E. 24th St. Place, will debut its new permanent collection of Christmas ornaments, artificial trees and garland, accessories, lights and decorations from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2.
The festivities will feature holiday food, drinks and music, tablescape ideas, a family photo center with a professional photographer on-site, children's activity area, seminars, eco-friendly LED lighting ideas and Christmas decorations for inside and out, including window boxes, mailboxes, porches and decks.
A second open house on Sunday, Dec. 1, will showcase natural Christmas trees and live poinsettias, wreaths and garlands.
