Project: The Vision Building

Owner: Vision Hospitality Group, Inc.

Location: 411 Broad St.

Architect: River Street Architects.

Size: 26,950 square feet, four stories.

Contractor: Biscan Construction.

Cost for project: $4.2 million.

Scope: The top two floors will serve as Vision Hospitality Group's new corporate headquarters. The first floor will house retail while the second floor will be leased as office space. The building will include a rooftop patio and Starbucks-style breakroom for Vision employees.

Timeline: The building is on track to be finished in spring 2014.

History: Vision Hospitality Group, founded in 1997, is currently based near Hamilton Place mall but has four hotels in downtown Chattanooga, so it made sense to put the company's headquarters there, said Mitch Patel, president and CEO. He hopes to create a state-of-the-art working environment in a pedestrian-friendly area to help retain and attract top employees.

Future: Patel wants to keep the company headquartered in Chattanooga and plans to use the new building as a training hub for new employees. Vision Hospitality has 17 hotels in the pipeline -- eight under construction, nine in the pre-construction phase. The family-owned company has a portfolio of 26 hotels with a market value of nearly $325 million.
