Obama and his lackeys keep promising no boots on the ground! Reminds us of a quote from Roosevelt during his 1940 presidential campaign! Mr. Roosevelt said at Boston on Oct. 30: 1940: "I have said this before, but I shall say it again and again and again: Your boys are not going to be sent into any foreign wars."

There have been years of discussions and media coverage on the importance of proper training so that youthful football players will avoid head and neck injuries to their developing bodies. Add to that the fact that there has been the development and growing use of supplemental protective devices, such as the Guardian Cap, to specifically address the issue of head injuries in high school sports. I find it simply unbelievable that the Assistant Director of the regulatory body (TSSAA) responsible for the safety of our youth while participating in high school sports would say, "Not something we've ever discussed or that's ever been brought to our attention." As someone once asked of Shoeless Joe Jackson, "Tell me it ain't so Joe." Please say this quote from TSSAA official was a misquote or please direct an intense media spotlight on this issue and on the TSSAA for their apparent blind indifference to a critical safety issue.

Well, I see the anti-smoking crowd is at it again. They have this view that they are the only ones with rights. Kim White, president and CEO of River City Co. wants Chattanooga to emulate some of the more "progressive" cities and ban smoking outside. Let me remind you that the left wing of the Democratic Party call themselves "progressives" instead of liberals. I for one do not want Chattanooga to become a left-wing "progressive" city. These are the same people who, in time, will want to start telling us what and how much to eat. Paula Collier with the Hamilton County Health Department stated in the article that she wants to ban smoking "everywhere." I was born in 1939 and lived and worked during the greatest era of all, with the least government intrusion in your personal life and the most freedom, the '60s and early '70s. It's too bad that folks 40 and under can not relate and appreciate the true freedoms we had.
