Attacker sought after sex assault
BRADLEY COUNTY, Tenn. - The Bradley County Sheriff's Office is seeking information about a sexual assault Friday night when a man entered the Wilkinson Road home of a woman as she slept.
She was attacked when she investigated a noise she heard in her house, investigators said.
Capt. David Shoemaker of the criminal investigations division said the woman described her attacker as white and about 6 feet to 6 feet, 4 inches tall with a slender build.
Shoemaker said the woman resisted her attacker and inflicted noticeable bite marks and scratches on him.
"The suspect's DNA was collected from the scene of the crime and has been submitted to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation for analysis," Shoemaker said.
"We are asking for anyone who knows of a male of the same size and build who in the last few days incurred injuries of the nature described above to contact the criminal investigations tip line at 423-728-7336," he said.
A reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest and conviction of the assailant, a news release stated.
Man, woman steal electronics
DALTON, Ga. - Dalton police are looking for a man and woman who they say stole more than $1,000 worth of electronics.
According to a news release, the unidentified man and woman coordinated the theft from the Academy Sports and Outdoors store on Shugart Avenue. On the evening of Aug. 31, the man stuffed the items inside some clothes, brought them into a fitting room and then stripped them out of their packages. He then gave the items to the woman, who hid them in her pink purse before walking out of the store.
The man, who appeared to be in his 40s, wore a gray polo shirt and a black Nike hat atop his shaved head. The woman wore a white tanktop and jeans. She appeared to be in her late 30s or early 40s.
The two drove off together in a maroon two-door sedan.

Georgia's newest state park opens
GAINESVILLE, Ga. - Georgia's newest state park officially opened Monday.
The 1,316-acre Don Carter State Park is on the northeast part of Lake Lanier.
The Times of Gainesville reports the vision for the park began as a view of tree-covered land from a helicopter by the park's namesake, Gainesville businessman Don Carter, and former Georgia Department of Natural Resources Commissioner Joe Tanner.
The park is the first state park for Hall County. It's also the first state park on the shores of Lake Lanier.
