GRAYSVILLE, Tenn. - City commissioners here held a 15-minute special meeting this evening and stripped City Recorder Michelle Horton of her authority over personnel issues.

Horton announced the move to a small group of local residents outside the town hall while commissioners met inside in executive session with City Attorney Carol Ann Barron. She said all personnel decisions will be handled by the City Commission.

The commission's move appears related to the recent lifted suspensions police officers who were placed on leave after allegations were raised that some drug money had gone missing.

The commission voted Monday to reinstate Chief Erik Redden. It wasn't clear this evening when Officer Shawn Shelton's suspension was lifted, but he was on patrol Wednesday.
