CROSSVILLE, Tenn. — As a former Cumberland County Sheriff's Office deputy, pastor Danny Smith says he knows how to spot a con.
And accused quadruple murderer Jacob Allen Bennett, 26, is a con artist, said Smith, pastor of Crab Orchard Christian Church.
"He was slick," Smith said Monday. Such people, he said, "tell you what they think you want to hear. But at no time did I ever think he would stoop to doing something like this."
