You can test your skills at two corn mazes opening in the area this weekend.

ENCHANTED MAIZE

Rock City's Enchanted Maize reopens for its 12th season at Blowing Springs Farm, 271 Chattanooga Valley Road in Flintstone, Ga. This year's design commemorates the sesquicentennial of the Civil War, with the 150th anniversary logo as the layout.

The maze will be open every Thursday through Sunday, Sept. 19-Oct. 27. Hours vary.

The Critter Corral, featuring Jerusalem donkeys, an alpaca, potbellied pig, rabbits, sheep, goats and a miniature horse and cow, will be open every Friday through Sunday.

Other activities include the new pumpkin patch maze, where kids can pick a pumpkin to take home, as well as hayrides, cow train, playground, Fairyland Forest Makeovers, bean bag toss, corn slingshot, pumpkin painting and inflatables (fees charged for some activities).

Admission is $7 for children 4-12, $9 for adults.

THE RIVER MAZE

The River Maze at Birchland Ocoee Farms, 1371 Highway 64 in Ocoee, Tenn., starts its new fall season on Saturday, Sept. 21. Admission is $5 for all on opening day ($9 for ages 4 and older the rest of the season).

The theme is "The River of Life for All," celebrating plant and animal life.

Hours are 5-9:30 p.m. Fridays, 11 a.m.-9:30 p.m. Saturdays and 1-5 p.m. Sundays; other times by appointment.

Activities include a pumpkin patch, hayrides, cow train, corn cannons, water wars, Capture the Corn games, barnyard croquet, pumpkin basketball, several mini mazes (fees charged for some activities).
